Present Status of Primary and
Upper Primary Schools :
After the
succesfull implementation of DPEP & SSA the educational scenario has
changed. There are 1525 Primary Schools (1167 Edu. Deptt., 11 Ashram
Shalas and 347 Upgraded Primary Schools), 654 Middle Schools (227
Edu.Deptt., 424 SSA & 03 of TW Deptt.) are running to fulfil the
educational requirements of the District. Besides government
instutions, the district has 683 Primary and 261
Private Middle Schools.

The GAR at primary level is now 100% by
upgrading 347 EGS to Primary schools while the GAR at upper primary
level has become 95.88% by upgrading 424 Primary schools to Upper
Primary Schools.
Above table shows that 59 habitations are
still not having Middle Schooling facilities within 3 km. In order
to achieve 100% GAR at Upper Primary level, district requires 25 PS
to be upgraded into Upper Primary in the year 2007-08. The detail
may be seen in the table above.

Above table shows that anganwadis opened by
Mahila Bal Vikas department are catering 35990 children of 3-5 age
group which is 54.23 % of the total population of 3-5 year children
while ECCE centres under SSA have enrolled Children of 3-5 year age
group which constitutes 8.97 % of the total population of 3-5 year
children.

3633 teachers working at primary level. Out of which 2325 are
Professionally Trained. The enrolment at primary level is 157256
constituting PTR 1 : 43.3 Pupil Teacher Ratio is highest in Barod
block 1:52.7 whereas lowest in shajapur block 1:39.

JAN SHIKSHA KENDRA
Jan Shiksha
Kendras are established in selected middle schools. Head of the
school is named as JSK Prabhari and one actvie teacher of that
school is appointed as Jan Shikshak. On an average 10 to 15 schools
in the vicinity of the middle school come under the JSK. The Jan
shikshak provides academic support to these schools and visits all
schools of his vicinity once in a month. Monthly meeting is held at
JSK to review the working of the schools and to give academic
support to the teachers.
District
is divided into 138 Jan Shiksha Kendra. These Jan Shiksha Kendra are
fully functional and giving academic support to each and every
school of the district. The following table shows block wise details
